Discover La Creuse
The department of Creuse, named after the river that flows through it, is located in the Limousin region. This sparsely populated department is characterised by the many rivers that meander through it and the hilly, wooded and field-rich landscape.
The Creuse is above all the carp in our pond, the fire salamanders, the sea of blue wood hyacinths during the May holidays, the concert of birds on waking and a biodiversity that is unique in Europe. Warmth, space and peace. A holiday in the heart of nature!
The Creuse valley, the cradle of Impressionism, has been painted by famous artists including Monet.
A current of painting even bears the name of this place, ‘the école de Crozant’. Crozant is a village perched on a rock overlooking the river. Imposing ruins also remain.
Naturist campsite Creuse Nature
In the vicinity
Near the campsite there are outings for all ages. Children always have fun at the mill or the abbey next to the Petite Creuse, where you can picnic and play on the playgrounds.
The lake of Sidialles, where you can hire a boat and go for a swim, is not far away. The bathing spots and beaches of the ‘three lakes’ with typical villages such as Le Bourg d'Hem and Anzême are also not far away.
Interesting places and towns such as Lac de Vassivière, Montluçon, Limoges, Aubusson, Ahun and La Châtre are all within easy reach of the campsite, making them well worth a visit.
Boussac is within easy walking distance of supermarkets, restaurants and a market.
George Sand, a feminist before her time, wrote one of her novels at the magnificently restored Château de Boussac. In the surrounding area, picturesque villages can be discovered by surprise at the turn of a bend. At the top of a hill stands Touls-St-Croix, with its mythical Jaumâtres stones and an acrobranche park.
Creuse is also...
A varied, soothing and invigorating local environment
At the Pierres Jaumâtres, just a quarter of an hour from the campsite, are, as it were, deposited, huge pebbles: mystical from the time of King Arthur. There's also an adventure park there.
Montluçon is a 35-minute drive away. This town has a beautiful historic centre and hypermarkets.
The town of Aubusson is the tapestry capital of the world. The tapestry museum there is very interesting, and you can wander around the town with in hand a map of the town distributed by the tourist office, which will guide you along the things to see.
The town of Ahun and the village of Moutier d'Ahun are not to be missed. The church at Moutier d'Ahun is beautifully sculpted and fascinating. Nearby is Masgot, a small village with sculptures in the streets, and Sous-Parsat with a fresco in the church unlike anything you've seen before.
La Châtre, north of Boussac is a typical medium-sized town in the Indre department, the neighbouring department of La Creuse.
From Creuse Nature, Oradour-sur-Glane, a village made infamous during the Second World War, is also worth a visit for a day out.
And last but not least: Limoges. A little further afield but quite doable for the day. Limoges is famous for porcelain and creations of all kinds. It's a pleasant town with an old centre and plenty of terraces and restaurants.
Creuse is a paradise for lovers of gardens and modern art. The Drulon Gardens and the Lake Vassivière Museum are not to be missed.
